As usual, Launceston is forging ahead in leaps & bounds with new  & proposed openings.

Along with that, there are closures as well as changes.

Henry’s is opening any time now at the Northern Club in Cameron St.  Complete with a brewing facility & bar, Henry’s is named after the original founding member, Henry Ritchie.   Perhaps fine dining  We’ll have to wait & see.

Batman Fawkner Inn, also in Cameron Street, leased out part of the ground floor to the much loved Garden of Vegan.  After a controversial departure in the wee hours of the morning, the owners up & left, leaving the landlord, staff & customers unaware.  Finally, some great news for the space.
pasta resistance and the Eatery

Pasta Resistance, an established eatery in the Quadrant Mall is moving into the building and will be upping the ante.  It will be known as Pasta Resistance & the Eatery – incorporating their popular pasta dishes as well as pancakes (from 6.30am on their breakfast menu) and a variety of other eating options and beverages.  It plans to be a general eating establishment opposed to a restaurant.  Entrees won’t be part of the menu, instead – small & large plates will be offered.  Pasta Resistance and the Eatery plan to be open throughout the day until late – with Friday & Saturday nights closed for private functions.  We wish Kevin Cosslett and team the best.

Opening on 08 May, 2015
MEAT BREAD CHEESE which opened nearly 12 months ago at Garden of Vegan’s original place of trading, have decided to concentrate on catering & their Harvest Market Stall.

Cinco Passiones will be opening as a Libation Lounge Bar above the Running Company in Brisbane Street, Launceston.  Drew Burns has been planning this for quite some time and looks forward to opening soon.  I’ve been keeping this one to myself, but since it’s now been advertised in the Examiner …  😉 😉
CINCO PASSIONES

Clayton’s Wine Bar will be opening next door to Dicky White’s Lane promoting and serving Tasmanian Wines only.   They plan to open between 11am & midnight.

A dedicated Yum Cha is rumoured to be opening in Yorktown Square, so watch this space.

And don’t forget to get along to Leaning Church Vineyard before they close for their winter break.  Food by John T. Bailey will be conducting three more events before the mid May closure including a German night, on 21 April, a Long Table Luncheon on the 01 May & a Mothers Day Luncheon for 08 May.
