Launceston Week Ending 17 September 2017
Tuesday 12 September
BAKERSFIELD MIST – comedy Starring John Wood and Julie Nihill
7.30pm-9.30pm | Princess Theatre Launceston
Maude (Julie Nhill), an unemployed bartender, has bought a painting for a few bucks from an op shop. Despite almost trashing it, she now thinks it’s a Jackson Pollock worth millions. In fact she’s certain it is. But when world-class art expert, Lionel Percy (John Wood), flies over from New York and arrives at her trailer park home in Bakersfield to authenticate the painting, he really has no idea what he’s about to discover.
Based on a true story, Bakersfield Mist is a comedy set in the present day.

Born in 1928, it follows his life in the Scouts, bush walking, including two epic trips walking across the Tasmanian highlands in 1947 and 1948, family man, proprietor of Craclair Tours for 37 years, and in retirement, building and paddling canoes. The Clytie was a much-loved 33-inch wooden boat built in 1925 and given to Eric as a Christmas gift 10 years later. In 2004, he retrieved the boat from a cupboard and restored her. The Clytie now has pride of place at the front entrance of his home. Free event. Everyone is welcome. Afternoon tea will be served.
