RIVER’S EDGE CAFÉ
Countryside bliss … River’s Edge Café.
Just a short drive from Launceston & on the outskirts of Longford, is this hidden gem … River’s Edge Café.
The building has been lovingly restored by cook & owner Jayne Randall who serves up some lovingly cooked home style meals to satisfy your every whim.
Off the blackboard menu, hubby chooses a Vegetarian Lasagne, much to my total surprise. Since when has my carnivorous husband ordered a vegetarian meal Well, there’s a first time for everything & this MUST have been it for him, and it wasn’t because he didn’t fancy anything else on the menu.
With zucchini as the main ingredient, the dish was warm, tasty & extremely filling.
An ambience that oozes charm, Jayne Randall has a thriving business for both locals & tourists – with excellent service and a wine list to suit most.
My choice off the blackboard menu – a Seafood Pasta dish – in this case a fine vermicelli for the pasta, mussels, scallops, prawns & fish for the seafood & the elements of the dish setting it apart from the norm., was the chilli sauce base and fetta cheese, taking on a real mediterranean style.
Feeling adequately full, I stepped outside into the glorious garden area (alfresco seating available), to take some piccies.
Perfect for lazy day dining or a relaxing afternoon tea with a cup of tea & cake.
