CHEESE

THE NOOK (Bread + Butter Co’s sister shop) has ceased trading as a café and has evolved into  CHEESE.  The change came about by Olivia Morrison’s passion for cheesemaking and wanting to establish a space where people can congregate, taste cheese & talk to the Maker.

BLUE CAFE BECOMES LEMONGRASS ONE

Blue Café was a popular café within the Inveresk Precinct when it ‘mysteriously’ closed down about a year ago.

But, Don Cameron from MUDBAR RESTAURANT is resurrecting it with a new name ‘Lemongrass One’.

This is fabulous news for those of us who love the Asian Fusion tweak that Don is so well known for.

Can’t wait for it to open!  Watch this space …

Hot Off the Press – Launceston & North Tasmania

Novaro's Italian Restaurant - Launceston, Tasmania

NOVARO’S HAS NEW OWNERS

Much loved Italian Restaurant, have had a change of ownership.

Sarah & Nick Hooper are hanging up their Launceston boots & swapping them with something lighter with their announcement of relocating north, to the much celebrated Noosa on Sunshine Coast to head La Vida Restaurant.

For those who have visited La Vida,  you’ll know what a popular eatery it is, and no doubt it will suit Nick & Sarah down to the ground.   We wish them every good wish with their venture.

Novaro’s continues on with new owners – Kathleen Le-Baldwin (a recent addition to Novaro’s Front of House Team) &  Tyller Penney (currently the Chef at Novaro’s).

Kathleen is a consummate front of house professional who enjoyed several years managing at Mudbar Restaurant.

It’s so refreshing to see another 2 young Launceston people, taking over the reins from their bosses, akin to what’s happened at other highly awarded restaurants, Pierre’s & Brisbane Street Bistro.

WHO KNEW – ABOUT ZUUZU

Well we certainly didn’t!

A new food stall at Festivale, led us to ask the owner where we’d find ZuuZu outside of Festivale.

Imagine the surprise to find out it’s smack bang in downtown Launceston, in Cameron St. in fact!

Serving mini donuts, baklava & other dessert style fare at Festivale (and boy were they yummy) – their store front serves coffee & takeaways – burgers & souvlakis with some sweet treats thrown in.

And now, the exciting thing about the food!  The owner is of Turkish descent and will be gradually incorporating dishes from the native land.  Stay tuned – our love for Turkish food will ensure we’ll check this out further.

GOODBYE HOLY GUACAMOLE – HELLO Dicky’s Café!

Well, Holy Guacamole is gone, one less Mexican food spot in town.

Dicky’s Café is opening on the premises, aptly named after Dicky’s Lane.  Takes me back many years to fond memories of Dicky White’s Bistro – but somehow I don’t think there will be any other comparison with the iconic bistro.

According to their Facebook page, they will be a modern style cafe serving classic food.

Let’s hope there’s something special about it as the café population in town is getting a little bit out of control.

THE SCHNITZEL STORE

A brand new eatery has opened on Invermay Road, opposite York Park.

Schnitzels – well, I guess it will be very popular considering the ‘parmi love’ that seems to be abound.

RESERVE 57 CAFÉ

Can’t wait to try this – meals look totally appetising!
