The Examiner Newspaper reports:
“The opening of Mexican restaurant franchise Zambrero in Launceston is drawing near, and state operations manager Stuart Churton said the business has plenty planned for the big day.

“We’re getting handover from the builders on Thursday afternoon and then we hit training with all the staff from Friday through to Monday for opening on Tuesday,” he said.

This will be the third store opening in Tasmania, with seven more in the works, and will employ about 30 staff across Launceston.

Mr Churton said he had always wanted to own a Mexican restaurant and was attracted to the national brand Zambrero because the company was socially conscious.

“Our slogan is ‘Mexican with a Mission’ and our mission through alignment with food is to stop world hunger … with every burrito or bowl we sell, we donate a meal through Stop Hunger Now,” he said.

“It’s a young, fresh, hip brand that just has a great feel about it … all our uniforms are from recycled plastics, our cutlery and packaging is biodegradable, it’s the whole scope of it.”

On opening day the restaurant will give away 1000 burritos when it opens at 12 noon.

“You’ll have to line up early, in Hobart we had people out the door halfway down the mall, in Devonport we had a line down the road,” Mr Churton said.

The franchise owners plan to open two more restaurants in 2016 at Sandy Bay and Moonah in the state’s South and expect to eventually have more than 200 staff.”
